John, whats that supposed to mean? You don't like that post? I don't even know how to respond to that lol.

RD, 10 people in clan, and 10 ten people on council would not work. 5 council and 15 clan would make more sense. you cant have 50% of the clan with the power.

Why not? Where I come from, everyone that subscribes to become a citizen, and everyone that is born and raised here, gets a vote when they turn 18. I think it works pretty well. What's wrong with giving a vote to half the people in the clan? Is their opinion really worthless?

This discussion ought to be split off from the nominations.

The way I see it is that the leadership are the executives - they enforce rules, implement changes, etc. The council and the leadership work together to vote on and create rules and changes. The council should be representative of the member base in the sense that if a member has a suggestion for a change the council would vote on whether it should be a clan-wide vote or a council/leadership decision, and then vote accordingly. This is in addition to moderation capabilities of both leadership and council.

Thus, I agree with Sorc - there does not need to be that many leaders and council members. For the amount of people in the clan right now, 5 total leaders + councilmen (active) should be enough in my opinion. We have John, Sorc, and Camel right now. Sorc used to be pretty active. Camel is very active. John is less active online, but he obviously does many other things for the clan. All three of them are on the forums a lot. I think just the 3 of them as of now handle things great. However, what John and Camel both said needs to be considered: the clan is growing. This is why, in my view, we are electing a council. However, I don't think there needs to be more than 2 or so council members (making, as I said before, 5 leadership positions). This is because we are not making many changes, not receiving much input from members, etc.

So far I see nominated:

RD
Judge
and me.

As of now whether only 1 or 2 or all 3 of us make it onto council, that would be more than sufficient to cover the clan for the next few months, unless we get an explosion of activity. That's what I think, anyway :P.

Someone else split this off from nominations.

you're right, they do get a vote when they turn 18. but i'm not saying the rest of the clan doesn't matter. the people over age 18 who vote, aren't in the positions of power, but their vote matters. the council is like the house of reps, it should be based off of population (aka amount of people in clan). The government (council), is much smaller than the population of the United States (rest of the clan).

In all of the clan meetings I've ever been to, we only ever let the entire clan vote on two or three things.

The lower council has no inherent power anyways, just access to a few bot commands.

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't fill the council; we should have, at the very least, one person to fill each rank of the council.

yes, but we want people we can trust to do a reliable job. if we dont have the right person, we shouldn't force a fit.

I'm not saying we should put more people on the council than we trust, I'm saying we shouldn't limit the number of people we choose to some arbitrary number because the clan isn't big enough.

we're not limiting it. john was asked for a number so he just gave some arbitrary number for a rough idea. i definitely agree that if we have reliable people we should put them on.

The whole reason this discussion began was faulty assumptions. There's no need for it.
