iPhone worth it?
« on: June 21, 2007, 06:48:05 AM »
Well the iPhone arrives on June 29, forgot how it costs, anyway is the iphone worth it, even with At&t as its serves provider?

Personality while I'll admit it looks nice and sleek, my cell phone (nothing fancy a Samsung, forgot model, Ill get back to on that) is almost the same as the iPhone with no touch screen, screen size is smaller, and has more GB than my phone. But the most I use my cell phone is for text messaging, than making calls, and lastly taking funny pics. Think the best part is that I have a habit of dropping my cell phone and has even gotten complete wet while I training in the rain, and after it dried it worked perfectly. My Point is while is looks nice, since the touch screen is probably sensitive I can see people complaining that they wasted the money after it dropped by accident.

The way I see it, it's Apple's version of a PDA. People who buy just a cell phone dont need it, while people who are looking for a PDA are in the market for one.

One of the guys I work with is getting one, so I'll get a chance to play around with it. It looks really cool, but I don't like Cingular/AT&T, and I wouldn't buy a GSM/UMTS phone. If they come out with a CDMA iPhone, I'll consider buying one.

I need a new cell phone (mine is 4 years old), and I was considering the iPhone despite the fact that I don't like the Apple software that the previous iSomethings have used. I figure it's a minor burden for something that seems to be so universal and useful. I wish Apple would bypass the programs they use such as iTunes when transferring files from PC to phone/player because I like just dragging and dropping the files I want onto my MP3 player.

When it comes out, I will check it out at the store and maybe get it a few months later when the price goes down (which it hopefully will).

They already announced the touchscreen is going to be a more durable glass, because of all the skepticism about the screens getting broken.

I'm not a big fan of touch screens but if it's more durable I guess that makes it a little better.

Meh I played around with our demo model @ the store. Its very reactive, easy to use, and has programmed software to ignore "accidental touches". Surprisingly, the software is very accurate, IE: I brushed my finger over an area of the screen over a button "faking an accident", then pressed it as I would a real button, and it worked fine. I wonder if it registers surface area increase as a "click".

I dunno, but so far I've been really impressed with the model I played with.

Is it heat-sensitive? Because I have an issue where I tend to forget to press the various "hold" buttons on things, touchscreen or not, and I put it in my pocket and either my MP3 batteries run out over night or I make accidental calls to random people.

I don't really see the problem with posting in old threads. It's not like someone asked a question that already recieved an accepted answer - it's an open discussion.

How is an on-topic post annoying?
