Compatibility issues...
« on: May 09, 2010, 07:59:05 AM »
Hello... Sorry to bother but I would like to ask, whether is there anyone to play Diablo II - Lord of Destruction on Windows 7?

I've tried Google'd but there is no luck so, I thought that I would like to ask...

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit.
I have the original disc for both Diablo II and its expansion.
I tried download and install using the Blizzard Downloader.
After it has installed, I have tried running it on many different modes like, 'Compatibility mode", 'Settings', etc...

But no luck so, does anyone manages to play Diablo II on Windows 7? Please help me. =)

You didn't really say what the problem was... Does it just not run? Not install? Can't connect to Battle.net? What's the issue?

I'm sorry. I can install the game but whenever I try to run it, I get a message saying that the game is not compatibile with the Windows. And, it will ask me to run test or try other options, etc [Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter] but no luck at all.

I'm also running Windows 7, and just tried it to see what happens. Because there is a known compatibility issue, that first window pops up asking if you want to "run this program anyway" etc. Click on the "Run this program anyway" and then it tells you to insert the expansion CD. When I inserted the CD, however, it worked just fine. Windows did ask me if I wanted to allow it to make changes to my computer, and I said yes. It worked though.

I tried to run it but the same thing keep prompting me. I can't even get to the message of insert the disc to play. I've been playing using disc first but after that tried applying the patch which I thought that it would help but still, no luck in the end.

What is the thing that keeps prompting you? Post a screen shot if at all possible.

I will have to re-install D2 again. Maybe this weekend due to busy working nowadays to save up for something.
I'll post here after taking the SS. Thanks for the time, sir. =)

Make sure you sign up on http://www.battle.net for an actual account, and then register your game on there. It will provide you with a download option to download and install the game (which will also make it cd free (NO CD REQUIRED TO PLAY!))

Enjoy!
